Retail Shopping

West Hartford offers a very strong retail and service business community to support the needs of this prime residential area. Many of the businesses are locally owned and operated, with several regional shopping areas as well.

Bishops Corner, in the northern part of town, is both a neighborhood and regional destination featuring a variety of businesses on all four corners.

Corbins Corner is located across from Westfarms on New Britain Avenue with over 20 stores, including Starbucks, Fleet Bank, and Men's Wearhouse.

Elmwood Center is another important neighborhood shopping area which runs along New Britain Avenue in the southern part of town. A variety of businesses are interspersed throughout the area including restaurants, florists, cleaners, pharmacies and a health club.

New Park Avenue is an emerging retail area with Home Depot, BJ’s Wholesale Club and Raymour & Flanigan, a 72,000 square foot furniture and retail complex.

Home Design District of West Hartford is located in the New Park Avenue area of West Hartford, the District offers everything today’s busy homeowner could need to build, renovate, decorate, or furnish a home.  Over 20 independent member businesses located in one square mile make home projects easy and enjoyable.  From roofing to flooring, from floral arrangements to furniture, if it’s for the home, you’ll find it here.  And the best part is, you’ll spend your time shopping, not running all over town!

Park Road is a diverse shopping area with a significant number of ethnic markets and restaurants, as well as more than 20 hair salons, a garden center, printing services, and a shoe store. From watching a play at the Park Road Playhouse to eating some premium ice cream at A.C. Petersen Farms, you’re sure to find something for everyone.

Sedgwick Plaza is located at the intersection of South Main Street and Sedgwick Road. This is a neighborhood plaza with Cricket Press, Banknorth, a clothier, restaurants, a pharmacy and a jeweler.

Sunset Triangle is at the western edge of town with restaurants, a tailor, a paint store, PAK Mail, Cats Limited Veterinary Hospital, Valvoline and Peoples Bank. 

Westfarms is a 1,310,000 square foot regional shopping center located seven miles southwest of Hartford, Connecticut. The shopping center straddles the towns of Farmington and West Hartford, and is conveniently located at the intersection of I-84 and Route 9. The center opened in 1974 and was expanded in 1997. This upscale mall with 160 specialty shops, clothing stores, and a variety of restaurants. A deck provides covered parking for 1200 cars and plenty of surface parking. Forty percent of the stores are unique to the market.

West Hartford Center is a traditional New England town center with over 140 retailers including specialty shops, a multitude of banks, and twenty food establishments, many of which feature outdoor dining. The Town Hall, library, and education offices are also part of the Center. Many events are held here throughout the year including the Chamber’s antique auto show “Cruising the Center”, Dancing Under the Stars, and the Holiday Stroll.
