What is Search Engine Optimization?
Google Business is the company’s integration of their Google Maps function with their business listings. For example, if you were to search Google for “Licensed, Experienced, Financial Planning Services” in West Hartford, CT, it would localize the top products of the search to the area you specified (that is assuming the business was signed up on Google Business). Then you would be able to see the business closest to you.
You can also help Google understand what your site is about by using descriptive headings. If you simply write “About Us” as a heading, it is not giving Google enough to work with. Instead try using keywords that represent and are relevant to your business, such as: “About our Licensed, Experienced, and Financial Planning Services”. By inserting phrases that are relevant to your business with different headings, Google will have more substance from which to formulate what your site is about.
Think meaningful when creating navigation
The best advice is for adding descriptive terms to your main navigation if that you must make sure that the menu on your sites remains uncluttered and easy to use. Taking short cuts which inhibit usability will not help you in the long run, as it is your website’s job to convert visitors to leads for you.
Up your game with photos on your site
If you bring your cursor over the image, a little text box pops up that reads “John Peters”. Google also reads the text in the “alt tag” of an image - yes another piece HTML coding. An image’s alt tag is basically it’s descriptor of what the image is and it appears if for some reason, the browser cannot find the image on the web server. So instead of simply naming the image “John Peters”, try John Peters- Partner and Financial Planner.
