WELCOME TO THE WEST HARTFORD CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

For the past 100 years, our Chamber has been encouraging the development of local businesses and enhancing the quality of life in our community. We take special pride in CNN Money Magazine’s recent selection of West Hartford as the 76th best residential community destinations in America! We hope that as you navigate through our site, you will sense the unique quality of life and small town characteristics that make West Hartford among the country’s top destinations in which to work, live and play.

Our theme for 2009 is “GROWING TOGETHER.”  We believe that in all of our member activities, our success as a community will multiply if we are all GROWING TOGETHER.

The Chamber will continue to strive for this by:

• Helping businesses succeed together by sharing ideas that benefit each other
• Welcoming new residents and connecting them to existing residents and the West Hartford business community
• Improving the environment by helping our community learn about and practice green, environmentally-friendly habits
• Providing educational opportunities for the entire community to expand our horizons, challenge ourselves and share our interests and expertise

Our commitment to our members’ growth will be demonstrated as we add value to each Chamber membership. This year, we begin with the introduction of our new, state-of-the-art website, complete with electronic commerce capability. Also, our members have more opportunities to promote their businesses. As you navigate our site, you will agree that WHChamber.com is the premier source for anyone seeking information about local businesses, recreation and entertainment.

The Chamber expands many of its programs and initiatives this year to add value to both members and the community-at-large by.

• Building stronger bridges between the business community and high school students for internships, mentoring and employment
• Expanding our Women in Business Program to offer workshops by experts in many areas of business, including communications and marketing
• Offering  resources for businesses stressed by economic pressures
• Offering  “green practices” events
• Celebrating the diversity of our community’s neighborhoods in our events and programs
• Strengthening member relationships through our Ambassadors committee, membership incentives and formal networking programs

Fresh ideas, open minds, teamwork, and the “let’s get it done” enthusiasm of the Chamber staff and its members, along with your participation, will enable us to “grow together” in 2009.
